2025 Colorado Music Educators Association Conference 01/29/2025

WO1 Kelsie McCallum and the 101st Army Mountain Brass presented a 2025 Colorado Music Educators Convention session entitled "Part Time Musician, Full Time Benefits." The session was scheduled for the Tri-M Honor Music Society Day of the conference, which hosted over 500 high school students who are leaders in their high school music programs. The session was a mix of high energy performances by the 101st Mountain Brass and quick talking points from WO1 McCallum and other ensemble members to inform students and their band directors about what it means to be a musician in the Army National Guard. After the performance, hundreds of students stayed to talk to members of the 101st, get pictures with Soldiers, and visit the recruiting table. Many band directors also went out of their way to thank the 101st for putting on such a great show and informing students of ways to pay for college and continue with music after high school.

2024 Holiday Gold Star Family Reception

Yesterday, members of the 101st Army Band performed holiday music for a Gold Star family reception hosted by Governor Jared Polis and The Adjutant General of Colorado, U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Laura Clellan at the governor's residence. Gold Star families are families of service members who died while serving our nation.

This holiday season, the 101st Army Band would like to wish all Gold Star families a merry Christmas and happy holidays, and especially the family of Major Chad David Wriglesworth. We hope you are able to find comfort and joy over the holidays.

SSG Tom Seidl's Retirement

Last month we celebrated Staff Sergeant Tom Seidl's retirement after over 20 years of service with the United States Army. Tom has played tuba and sousaphone with the 101st Army Band since 2010. He also served with the 132nd Army Band in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. We will miss Tom's youthful energy, willingness to talk to anyone, and, of course, the mustache.
